Finally! Eshe could finally breathe again. Their jaw fell open, and they panted for dear life. They turned to face their opponent, who limped away to seek solace from the Pack Leader. Eshe followed the sad trek with their eyes before slowly making the tender walk to find some water. They mentally basked in their victory and attributed their success to the constant hours of training.
When they looked up, they saw that the Ravens had settled nearby. Some were lamenting the loss they watched, but they soon found new entertainment with the numerous other Wolves nearby. Eshe’s eyes bounced from face to face, shifted and avian, until a years-long magnetism drew them to one of the few silent Ravens watching from above. Their tail wagged as they stared at the shifted Raven stretched out among the branches. And even from this distance, they could see a coy smile.
“Great job on your race, Eshe.”
